EXAMPLES OF STUDENT'S WORK

3D Modelling

3D Modelling is something that comes with the Digital Media Design(DMD) syllabus, meaning that every DMD Student is expected to have the skills to 3D Model when their life depends on it.

Why is  3D Modelling important?

  1. If you intend to 3D Print, you are expected to understand 3D Modelling way before trying to 3D Print. This is for you to learn how prepare a model appropriately and learn of 3D Printing shortcomings.
  2. In the case that you are planning to create a physical installation, the best method to get your installation scale across to people is to build a 3D Mockup.
  3. 3D Modelling is a fun and useful skill to have as it sets you apart from other people who refuses to learn it.

We usually teach Blender in the Fablab for students who are new, unless you have C4D experience we usually recommend Blender or Onshape. There aren't any proper tutorials that can be provided here as it is a skill you learn over time through practice and failure.

However, there are links which can be provided here for you to learn by yourself. DO NOT REFERENCE THE DOUGHNUT VIDEO ON YOUTUBE.

We use Blender and Onshape for 3D Modelling!
