Digital Fabrication Workshop Application

Hello there, you can sign up for the Digital Fabrication Workshop here, we will be conducting the Workshop in 2 phases, so if you can't make it to one day, you can make it to the other. If you are worried you can't make it to a certain day, you may choose a different date and day with the activity from the form below.

Keep in mind that if you have registered but did not show up on the Workshop itself, you will be penalized from coming in for the coming semesters. So please be certain on choosing a day or informing [DMD] Alden Chia Hong Teng on Teams that you will not be able to make it.

Hope to see you in the Fablab soon!

FAQ

Can anyone join?

Sadly we have closed up the Fablab for other courses, if you are from another course and wish you use the Fablab you will need to have your lecturer accompany you to learn the process and monitor your progress.

Where will the Workshop be conducted?

The Workshop will take place in the DMD Fablab at Level 8 of The One Academy.

Do I have to pay to take part in the Workshop?

Not at all, the Workshop is free for every course, all you have to bring is yourself and your desire to learn something new.

I really want to go but none of the dates fits my schedule.

No worries, the Workshop takes place every Diploma Semester and is open to all, we frequently change our schedules every Semester so look out for the next time we blast out our notice!

Do I need to have any specific skill to take this Workshop?

Nope, all you need is to come and learn, you'll be taught the skills, procedures, and know-hows of the topics.

What is 3D Printing?

The 3D Printers we use here in the Fablab are made with PLA material, meaning they are safe and bio-degradable unlike the usual plastics you find. Essentially 3D Printing is printing a Model out from bottom to top using a very hot nozzle tube to feed plastic into a base, building up a model millimeter by millimeter.

What is Laser Cutting?

Laser Cutting utilizes high precision heat to cut up a multitude of materials, from Paper or Wood, to Cotton or Acrylic. It allows you to engrave or cut out interesting patterns created from Vector Art.

What is Arduino Circuitry?

It is taught to almost all DMD students during their studies, Arduino is a beginner friendly platform for everyone to begin circuitry to create interactive experiences.

See you soon!
